Leeds United fan ratings

Leeds United fans have had their say on the season opener against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Find out who did well, the main talking points of the match and some of your favourite moments in the Leeds United fan ratings.

What Did the Leeds United Fan Ratings Say?

Man Of The Match

The man of the match, from over 200 fan ratings, came out as Brenden Aaronson. Claiming his place in Jesse Marsch’s after being the club’s first purchase of the summer, Aaronson came out of the match with an average rating of 8.88 out of ten, comfortably clear of the rest of the pack.

It’s easy to see why he is a new fan favourite. The playmaker’s incredible pace and diligence meant that the new signing was everywhere the team needed him at all times. Aaronson should have been rewarded a goal, with the instep of Rayan Ait-Nouri’s right foot the only thing between him and a debut goal.

Illan Meslier’s Magic Hands

Frenchman Illan Meslier continued his strong run of form, scoring an 8.34 with a great performance and making a series of saves that kept the Yorkshire side in the match when looking for an equaliser. The goalkeeper’s five saves made him one of the top 50 for saves in Premier League history in the course of just over two seasons.

Meslier is seeking a place in the France squad for the Qatar World Cup in November, and strong performances such as this will see him in hot contention for the position. With competition including Hugo Lloris and Mike Maignan, the French keeper will be looking to perform to this high standard all year.

Rasmus Kristensen’s Saving Tackle

Leeds United’s main concern focuses on the defence. Conceding the second most goals in the division last season meant relegation came close, so reinforcing in the form of Rasmus Kristensen was a key signing. Kristensen saw a fairly average performance throughout, scoring a 6.69 out of ten.

The Dane’s last-ditch challenge on Ait-Nouri in the 68th minute is one of the highlights of the match. With the Wolves forward powering into the box, The Whites’ newest right-back chased him down, sliding in with perfect timing. Although a unique situation, this challenge clearly shows just what the Elland Road faithful can expect of him.

Marsch Madness

Jesse Marsch’s match was excellent, with substitute Mateusz Klich completely turning the game around. The American’s biggest moment came off the field. With Bruno Lage refusing to shake the Leeds manager’s hand, the two squared up after the final whistle.

Whilst not the most professional look for a manager, the passion and engagement of the incident is perfect in front of the Elland Road crowd. Leeds fans expect passion from their managers. This, in combination with geeing up the crowd in the same way that Kalvin Phillips did in seasons prior, makes him the perfect match for Leeds for years to come.
