Date of James Garner Decision Revealed as Manchester United Consider Surprise Move

As part of an update, Simon Stone of BBC Sport has revealed that Manchester United midfielder James Garner is set to earn a chance in pre-season to impress new manager Erik ten Hag. Following this, and before the new campaign starts on August 5th, the Red Devils will come to a decision on Garner’s future. Manchester United to Decide on James Garner Future After Preseason Tour

Manchester United Midfielder James Garner Could Be in Line for Squad Role

New Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will undoubtedly provide many with an opportunity to impress on the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia. One of the beneficiaries of several players leaving could be academy graduate Garner.

A positive of having Garner in the squad is that he is a homegrown player, with United having a rich history of producing academy graduates.

The class of 92 are all written into Old Trafford folklore, winning every trophy possible with the Red Devils. With the club now in a transitional period, several players are leaving and it could be the perfect opportunity for Garner to gain a place in Ten Hag’s squad for the 2022-23 season.

Impressive on Loan

Garner has found game time difficult to come by at Old Trafford. He joined then-Championship team, Nottingham Forest, on loan in January 2021 after a temporary spell at Watford was cut short following a change of manager.

He then rejoined Forest on loan for the 2021-22 season, which saw him impress throughout the campaign. Garner made 44 appearances, supplying ten assists and scoring four goals. He was influential in helping his side gain promotion to the Premier League.

Garner has shown his ability during his time in the United academy and most recently during his loan spell at the City Ground. He has a tremendous work ethic and an impressive array of passing. The youngster will seemingly get the opportunity to impress Ten Hag during the clubs’ upcoming pre-season tour.
