Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United After Young Uruguayan Striker

Darwin Nunez Drawing Attention

Nunez scored 34 goals in 41 goals last season, a fantastic haul that has seen his transfer value skyrocket.

According to Di Marzio, the forward is likely to head to the Premier League, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham all interested in his signature.

Nunez joined Benfica from UD Almeira in September 2020. Since then his record stands at 47 goals and 16 assists over 84 matches. So his fantastic return last season makes up for a good number of those goal involvements. Simply put, Nunez is really starting to hit his stride.

Spurs already have a formidable strikeforce in the likes of Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, not to mention Lucas Moura, Steven Bergwijn and Dejan Kulusevski. Nunez is an out and out striker, though, which could help give Tottenham that extra depth when Kane gets injured. That said, does the in-form Nunez want to warm a bench?

Manchester United, on the other hand, could do with some extra firepower to help them climb the table. Signing a young talent like Nunez could be a great investment for the future. But it could also give them a lot of help when it comes to scoring goals for next season.

Arsenal are already a young side and signing Nunez would be some coup. Mikel Arteta has already spent plenty on his current squad but to little avail, still finishing behind Tottenham.

Benfica are looking for a replacement for Nunez, with the Bundesliga a particular source for their transfer targets.
