Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea Chasing Inter Milan Midfielder

Inter Milan midfielder

Inter Milan midfielder Ivan Perisic is out of contract this summer. The Croatian has been a constant presence in the Inter Milan first team for years now and was a big part of the reason they captured the Serie A title in the 2020/21 season.

Now, the Italian club are desperate to keep hold of Perisic but according to Fabrizio Romano, that may be difficult. In response to an older Tweet about Inter offering Perisic an improved deal, he had this to say: “Nothing has changed for Ivan Perisić. He’s gonna decide his future soon with Inter new contract proposal on the table, but also Tottenham and Chelsea both interested as his deal runs out in June”

A Gap to Fill

Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are the two named clubs interested in the services of the Croatian. The interest from Chelsea was first noted during the January transfer window with the club unable to reach a deal. Still, they will be paying attention to the situation very closely. With Marcos Alonso seemingly headed for a return to Spain and Ben Chilwell still on the shelf, Chelsea are in need of players at the left wing-back position. Although Emerson Palmieri is likely to be coming back from Lyon, Ivan Perisic is a more proven name and gives the club more options depth-wise.

Tottenham are also interested in Perisic but unlike Chelsea, they’re interested in his attacking flair. Perisic predominately plays on the left side of midfield but he can play in the area behind a striker when needed.

Competition for Signature

Ivan Perisic and his representatives will be well aware of the interest from all three clubs which means they will be aiming to get the best deal possible. Inter’s offer supposedly had a base salary of €5 million per season, which could easily rise as all three teams compete for the players’ signature.
