Karim Benzema Greatness and La Liga Success

Karim Benzeme greatness

It has been a season of Karim Benzema greatness as the Frenchman continues to deliver, with Real Madrid winning La Liga. The Frenchman netted his Los Blancos‘ 4-0 win over Espanyol which sealed the title.

Benzema has always been in the upper ranks of football’s elite strikers. This season, however, he’s taking his play to another level. All of this coming at 34-years-old is simply mesmerising.

Karim Benzema Greatness Helps Real Madrid Clinch La Liga Crown

La Liga Endeavors

Los Blancos secured the title with four matches to go in Spain. They have collected 81 points from 34 matches. This includes 25 victories and six draws to only three losses.

Benzema, of course, is a major factor in this success. In 30 matches, he has scored 26 goals. He’s averaging a goal per 94 minutes on the pitch. These are numbers one would expect from players like Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Robert Lewandowski, but Benzema is moving himself up to that class. When Ronaldo left Madrid a few seasons ago, Benzema was left as the primary attacking option and it has certainly paid off this season.

Twenty-six goals (so far) is a fantastic achievement. Benzema, however, also holds an astounding 11 assists to his name. This means he’s contributed to 37 goals in 30 matches. With the minutes he’s had on the pitch, Benzema is averaging a goal involvement every 66 minutes. These are crazy numbers.

Another interesting fact to throw out is that Benzema has not been disciplined this entire La Liga season. There are no cards to his name thus far.

Other Competitions

Madrid are still alive and well in the Champions League. They fell 4-3 to Manchester City in the first leg of the semi-finals (with Benzema scoring twice), which means they’re still in a decent position to fight back and make the final.

Benzema holds 14 goals and one assist to his name in ten Champions League matches this season. He’s averaging goal involvement every 61 minutes on the pitch in the competition. His historic hat-trick versus Paris Saint-Germain will certainly be remembered for years to come as well.

Madrid were also victorious in the Supercopa de España this season. He scored two goals and provided one assist in two matches.

Clearly, Benzema is doing it all. He stands tall as Madrid’s best player this season. More than that, Benzema is looking like the top player in all of Europe this season as well, surpassing the likes of Messi and Ronaldo at the moment.

At 34-years-old, there is a question on how long he can keep this up. With that being said, he’s in the midst of the best season of his career. Benzema, however, also serves as a mentor to Madrid’s strong supply of young attacking talent. This includes the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. In addition, the rumour of a possible Kylian Mbappe transfer to the club continues to persist.

Mbappe is already playing with an attacking legend in Messi, but a Madrid arrival will also allow him to improve immensely under the tutelage of a fellow countryman in Benzema.
