Patrick Berg Seeks New Challenge in France

Before making the journey across the water to France, Patrick Berg followed in his father’s (Ørjan Berg) footsteps playing for Bodø/Glimt, where he made 137 league appearances, scoring eight goals.

The 24-year-old also has nine caps for Norway.

Berg captained his former team to back-to-back Eliteserien titles, and he was voted player of the season last season.

The Berg family name is well-respected at Bodø/Glimt, with the family being awarded the Kniksen Pride of Honour in 2021. This award was established in 1990 and recognises the best players in the Norwegian top flight. There are awards for players of the season, but this special Pride of Honour award showcases the fantastic contribution the Berg’s have made to the club.

Patrick Berg is the latest in the line of Berg’s to play for the club. This includes his father, Ørjan, grandfather Harald, uncles Arild and Runar and great uncle Knut.

Having done his bit to win yet more glory for his family and for Bodø/Glimt, Berg is now seeking a new challenge across the water.

RC Lens Strengthen Midfield

Berg makes a good back-up for Seko Fofana and Cheick Doucoure, with Lens eager to strengthen and add to their depth in midfield.

Lens sit sixth in Ligue 1, just three points separating them from OGC Nice in fourth place. They are part of a chasing pack that strives to catch up with Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the table. It’s looking like a tight battle during the Christmas period and into the second half of the campaign.

The club have conceded the most out of the top 12 clubs in Ligue 1. Adding some defensive steel, as well as some extra leadership qualities can only help to shore up the leaky Lens defence.
