AFC Sudbury Rewarded for Their Efforts

Step four side AFC Sudbury provided one of the shocks of the round, defeating National League South Leaders Dartford 3-1.

A resilient effort from the Suffolk side saw them come back from a goal down to put their name into the draw for the first time since the turn of the century. Dartford had taken the lead on the stroke of half-time, before a quick response and a red card saw the game turned in favour of the home side.

As the lowest-ranked side guaranteed a place in round one, Sudbury have been rewarded for their efforts with a home tie against Colchester United. Situated just over 15 miles away, the League Two side will enjoy a trip to their Suffolk compatriots

Sunderland

The biggest side to enter the draw at this stage have been draw at home against Mansfield Town.

Lee Johnson’s side have started their fourth season in League One in esteemed fashion, having just suffered two defeats in the third tier. Despite a 4-0 defeat to Portsmouth, the Mackems bounced back with a resolute performance against Gillingham on Saturday.

Mansfield, meanwhile, are struggling for form in League Two. Nigel Clough’s side are currently languishing above the relegation zone in 22nd place.
