Manchester United forward Amad Diallo is closing in on a loan move to Eredivisie side Feyenoord, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 19-year-old agreed a transfer to the Red Devils last summer but remained with Atalanta until January 2021 when finally moving to Old Trafford.
With first-team opportunities looking limited this season, he looks set to head out on loan and gain valuable experience.
Amad Diallo Set for Feyenoord Loan
Manchester United and Feyenoord Come To an Agreement
Fabrizio Romano reports that Manchester United have found an agreement with Feyenoord to send Amad Diallo on loan until June 2022.
The deal will be signed and announced once the player gives his final green light.
Feyenoord have won both of their games this term and sit second in the Eredivisie, only behind PSV Eindhoven, who at the time of writing have played a game more.
Much Needed Experience for Amad Diallo
Amad Diallo has only had a small taste of senior football. Even before he arrived at Manchester United, he made just four senior league appearances with Atalanta in Italy, totalling just 37 minutes, though, he did manage to score on his debut v Udinese.
The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell has reported that his lack of experience was a factor in certain Premier League clubs refusing to take him on loan. Those clubs saw the signing as a potential gamble with just two domestic loan slots available to them and not much proof of his suitability to English football.
Towards the end of the 2020/21 season, United started him in a 2-1 loss to Leicester City and in the final game of the season, a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Amad Diallo is a talent that possesses plenty of potential but the Premier League clubs are right to have reservations with so little evidence at senior level.
However, if he joins Feyenoord, he will get the platform to show himself as a real talent in a league full of it.
He will also be afforded the opportunity to work with former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, who is a coach with the Dutch club that he played for twice.
The Manchester United man who scored a nice goal v AC Milan in the Europa League has already represented and scored for Ivory Coast at international level – a free-kick goal v Burkina Faso.
He also went to the Olympics this summer, featuring in four games, including draws with eventual winners Brazil and Germany in the group stage. Diallo assisted v Saudi Arabia in the opening game and has said he would love to play in the Olympics again in future.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Confirms Plan to Loan Amad Diallo Out
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently told club media of the intention to loan Amad Diallo out this season, even revealing they have an agreement with an unnamed side, he said: “Yes I do (expect him to go out on loan). It’s not 100% signed but we’ve agreed. I don’t have to say which team it is yet, but we’ve found a place that Amad feels excited about and we feel excited about.”
Should the move be completed, Amad Diallo will be one of many Manchester United players out on loan this season, including Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams and James Garner.
