Career So Far

Dylan Levitt has had quite the career so far for a 20-year-old, featuring on the international stage with Wales, he was part of their Euro 2020 squad and featured from the bench v eventual winners Italy.

He has now featured nine times at senior level for his country.

Levitt was part of the young Manchester United squad to debut v Astana in the Europa League in November 2019 – his only competitive first-team appearance to date.

Last season, he made three appearances under Lee Bowyer at Charlton Athletic, however, fell out of favour with the boss and was recalled by the Red Devils.

Desperate to seal his place on the flight to Euro 2020, Levitt sought first-team football with Istra 1961 in Croatia for the remainder of the season.

He made nine appearances and reached the cup final, enough to convince Rob Page he was worth his place in the Wales squad.

Levitt has featured in pre-season for the first-team at United and started the U23s campaign v Leicester City on August 15, 2021 – a 2-2 draw that United came back from 2-0 down in.

Whilst he will have gained plenty of experience with Charlton and Istra, Manchester United need to see more from him if he is going to make it into the first-team in the long run.

Levitt will likely get the opportunity to show what he can do in Scotland – where Reece Devine is also out on loan with St Johnstone.

With this being a third loan and his contract expiring next year, though United have the option of a further year, the pressure is very much on to deliver and deliver soon.

Levitt, a senior international, can offer Dundee United, who sit sixth in the Scottish Premiership after two games, a great deal of talent and potential.

Levitt Excited for Scotland Spell

Upon joining the club on loan, Levitt told dundeeunitedfc.co.uk: “I am excited to be here. As soon as I heard United were interested it was a move I wanted to happen. I am here to help Dundee United achieve their goals but I also see this as an important part of my continued personal development.”

Dundee United head coach Tam Court added: “Dylan is a versatile midfielder who enjoys controlling games and producing assists for attacking players. Already a Welsh international, and part of their recent Euros squad, he’s a young player with ambitions to play at the top level.

“I believe that he’s capable of playing with all of our existing midfielders, but he brings something different, which will give us better options and more flexibility for the season ahead.”

Levitt will wear the number 19 shirt at Tannadice Park and, subject to international clearance, will be available to face St Johnstone on Sunday.
