Manchester City Youngster Yan Couto Remains Celtic Target

Celtic Eager to bring Yan Couto to Scotland

The Scottish Premiership side have made signing a right-back one of their most important priorities but they’ve still not managed to bring in one of their targets in that area yet. One of those is Couto, who is reportedly the top name on the list.

The defender is just 19-years-old but is already impressing many and Celtic have liked what they have seen of the player and want to bring him to the club for the current campaign. However, the Brazilian is considering his options, with interest rife in his services.

Couto Played for Girona on Loan Last Season

Couto spent last season in Spain with Girona. Although it wasn’t in the top tier, he still played well considering he was just 18 and racked up 22 appearances with five goal contributions. Celtic clearly believed he could make the step up to playing in Scotland’s top flight and remain eager to get him to join them over anyone else before the transfer window shuts.

He won’t get much chance to play at Manchester City considering their wealth of options in most positions so it means that Couto will certainly have to make another move away on a short-term basis to get the playing time that he craves. Although it means that the Scottish side wouldn’t have a permanent option at right-back, Couto would certainly provide an exciting addition to the side and could boost the position, even if it was just for this season.

Celtic have also looked elsewhere to fill the void but they remain determined to sign Couto and will continue to try and get him to move to them on loan until he makes a decision on where he wants to play his football in 2021/22.
