Paris Saint-Germain Stepping Up Attempts to Sign Paul Pogba

Paul Pogba

According to Adam Crafton of the Athletic, Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their attempts to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba by opening discussions with those around him. There is currently no dialogue with Manchester United, however.

The Frenchmen have already been busy this summer, snapping up Sergio Ramos, Georginio Wijnaldum, and Gianluigi Donnarumma on free deals, leaving most of the budget left to splash.

It has to be said, though, that a move to the French capital may not appeal to Pogba. Manchester United have more than proved how serious they are about mounting a title charge in the forthcoming season, signing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, and the question is, would Pogba want to miss out on potential silverware?

With just one year left on his contract, the power is certainly in the Frenchman’s hands.

Wijnaldum and Pogba: A Match Made in Heaven

Over the years at Old Trafford, many have tried and many have failed to get the best out of Paul Pogba. In fact, arguably, only N’Golo Kante with France has handed Pogba the defensive shield to thrive going forward. He has always shown bursts of form in the Premier League, but nowhere near the levels shown for his country.

The type of player that Gini Wijnaldum is could result in the ‘France Pogba’ coming out in club football. As proven at Liverpool, Wijnaldum is one of the most versatile and unselfish players around; he will do the dirty work, and do it well, allowing the rest of the side to flourish. Meanwhile, his technical ability would only compliment Pogba’s style further.

Whether the move happens remains to be seen. One thing we do know, however, is that the midfield partnership created as a result of the deal would be up there with the best in the world.
