Sancho Adds That Star Power
It has been far too long since Manchester United completed a big-money deal for one of the top talents outside of the Premier League. In fact, the last world-class player they signed outside of England was Paul Pogba. The fact is, the deal for Sancho is much overdue. It signals much-needed intent; gets the fans back onside. Most crucially, it gives the rest of England’s top flight somebody to truly fear at Old Trafford.
Last season would have been a wake-up call for many at the club. They became the nearly men, a tag that was never previously stuck on those playing in the famous red of Manchester United. Adding Sancho proves they want to eradicate any mention of that phrase in association to themselves. The winger should bring the needed cutting edge, adding both goals and assists. All you have to do is look at the numbers.
For Dortmund last season, Sancho was involved in 36 goals in 38 games. Now add the likes of Edinson Cavani, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes around him, and those numbers could improve even more. At 21, Sancho still has further levels to reach; levels he could reach at Old Trafford.
