Manchester United is the ‘most realistic’ destination for Jadon Sancho this summer as the club continues negotiations with the player’s representatives, according to Sky Sports News.

Borussia Dortmund Are Actively Seeking Sancho’s Replacement

Sancho had reportedly agreed on personal terms with United last year when the Manchester club saw their efforts rejected by Dortmund, who set a €120 million price tag for the forward.

This summer Dortmund are expected to accept less money for Sancho’s departure. The report claims Dortmund may sell for £80 million this time. The Bundesliga club are actively seeking Sancho’s replacement – Ligue 1 prospects Jonathan Ikone and Sofiane Diop are seen as candidates.

United are seen as the ‘most realistic destination for Sancho’, as re-agreeing personal terms should be no issue and every party is keen on agreeing on a deal.

Despite a deal between United and Dortmund looking increasingly likely, other clubs are interested in Sancho and his arrival at Old Trafford is far from certain.

United Have to Splash on Sancho This Time

In 2020, United’s dealings with Dortmund over a deal for Sancho were embarrassing. Described by The Atheltic’s Raphael Honigstein as “a long-running game of poker without realising that the Bundesliga club weren’t even at the table.”

Since then, news of the European Super League plans reignited the fans’ anger towards the club’s owners and sparked protests that have caught the attention of the Glazers. Joel glazer is set to attend a fan forum for the first time next month as one of the club’s efforts to appease fans.

A quick and decisive way to improve the mood around the club is by signing Sancho. It can improve the belief around the incompetence of the owners and Ed Woodward regarding transfer policy. It can be pointed to when United fans accuse the Glazers of using their club as an ATM.

With United in need of reinforcements and statement signings, few can have the impact Sancho can.
