Birmingham City: Aitor Karanka Set to Be Sacked as Manager

Birmingham City are set to part company with manager Aitor Karanka, according to John Percy of The Daily Telegraph.

The Blues have won just three of their last 20 games in all competitions and are currently 21st in the Championship.

Poor Run of Form

The Blues have been in dreadful form since of the turn of the year, winning just three games. Only one of those have come at St Andrew’s, leading to them having the worst home record in the Championship.

Coincidentally, their last win in the league did come at home against QPR. However, they have gradually slid down after losing just two of their opening nine games.

As a result of that slide down the table they are now just three points above the relegation zone in 21st place. However, Rotherham, who are 22nd and one place below the Blues, have four games in hand on Aitor Karanka’s side.

The nail coffin for Karanka came against Bristol City on Saturday, losing 3-0. The Spaniard pinpointed several errors after the game, saying: “We’ve been here for several months and every single game is the same. We can do whatever we want but if we make mistakes we are going to lose the game.

“When you are losing you need to have that direction, but we didn’t deliver one ball into the box. It is impossible to win games if you don’t score goals from the chances you have and you are making mistakes every day.

“I don’t look at the table, I don’t look at where we are in the calendar, but it’s difficult when you’re working, you’re trying to do your best and every single day is the same story.”

Birmingham are next action against play-off chasing Reading on Tuesday.
