Out of Favour at Palace

The 30-year-old is free to discuss a move with other clubs as his current contract ends at the end of this season.

The left-back has fallen out of favour with Roy Hodgson in recent months. Having played in just four of Palace’s last ten games, he is seemingly unable to agree on a new deal with the London outfit.

Van Aanholt signed for The Eagles at the beginning of 2017 and has been a key player for Roy Hodgson’s side throughout his time in South London.

12 years on from his debut in England at Coventry City, van Aanholt’s discussions with the unnamed club suggest his time in England is nearing an end.

Potential Summer Overhaul

The defender is one of many high-profile players at the club who is out of contract in the coming months. 13 first-team players, including Cristian Benteke, Andros Townsend, and Gary Cahill, are set to run out of contract soon, as a summer of big changes looms over Selhurst Park.

So many key players nearing free transfers away from the club suggest significant changes could happen at the club soon. Roy Hodgson will also be out of contract this summer and will have celebrated his 74th birthday before the beginning of next season. He could be joining several players out the exit door.

Hodgson has recently spoken about his future at the club, saying he is ‘undecided’ about his future, and ‘enjoying every minute’ at the club. Reports suggest the club is planning for life without their manager of four seasons after the summer.
