Aiming for Midfield Reinforcements

The Foxes are believed to be keen to improve in midfield during the summer and bring in some more reinforcements in that area. They have identified Soumare as a potential signing and plan to try and open talks with him when the summer transfer window opens.

However, they’re sure to face competition for his signature. Brendan Rodgers’ side are not the only team to declare an interest in the player, with several other sides believed to have also enquired about a potential move for the midfielder.

Lille Deal to Expire in Summer of 2022

The 21-year old’s current deal at Lille is set to expire in the summer of 2022 and, although it doesn’t mean he can join any new team on a free transfer yet, it does mean that several teams will be prepared to test the water and see if the French side would be willing to cash in on him.

The Frenchman has featured in more games for Lille than in any other season in his career so far and has helped them to a first-place position so far in Ligue 1 this campaign.

Leicester City Believe Boubakary Soumare is Showing Promise in Ligue 1

He’s also one of the best dribblers in the league despite being a midfielder. Last year, he had the second-best successful dribble percentage in the league with a dribble success rate of 90.5%. This year, he is currently fifth in the standings with 84.2%.

He’s only young and has already shown promise as one of the most talented prospects in Ligue 1. If Leicester could complete a deal for the 21-year old, it could prove to be another astute signing by Brendan Rodgers as they continue to battle amongst the best in the Premier League and aim for not only a European spot but a potential second Premier League title.
