Brighton & Hove Albion Defender Rebekah Stott to Miss Rest of Season

Brighton & Hove Albion Defender Arrived in September

Stott joined Brighton in September last year and signed a one-year contract with the club, going on to make seven appearances for the Seagulls this campaign.

She said on Twitter: “I would like to inform everyone that I have returned home to Australia due to medical reasons.

“Although disappointed that I will miss the remainder of the FA WSL season, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Brighton & Hove Albion so far and wish Hope and the girls the very best of luck for the remainder of the season.

“I would also like to thank everyone who has supported me so far.

“I will share an update on my health when I am ready, but until then I ask that everyone respects my privacy at this time.”

Head coach Hope Powell added: “We wish Rebekah all the best and fully support her decision to return home. In her relatively short time with us, Stotty has become an extremely popular member of the squad who is liked and respected by everyone and we wish her all the best.”

Stott Has Extensive Experience

The 27-year-old has extensive experience in her career to date, after earning more than 70 caps for New Zealand, as well as playing for clubs in Australia, the United States and Norway.

Her most recent appearance for Brighton came in a 3-1 defeat to Reading on December 20.

Powell’s side currently sit seventh in the Women’s Super League table with 15 points from 15 games, and are next in action at home to Tottenham Hotspur on March 7.
