Chelsea Injury News: Latest on Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz, Kurt Zouma and Hakim Ziyech

Although Chelsea lost Thiago Silva to injury in the first half against Tottenham Hotspur, the West London club made it two wins out of three under new manager Thomas Tuchel, securing a 1-0 victory. It was also The Blues’ third successive clean sheet as they are yet to concede in this Tuchel era.

But, as games continue to come thick and fast, the German will be hopeful of having a full squad to choose from in the coming weeks.

Chelsea Injury Update: Thiago Silva, Kai Havertz, Kurt Zouma and Hakim Ziyech News

Thiago Silva Emerges as the Biggest Chelsea Injury Concern

With several players returning to the match-day squad, Chelsea seemed to be moving past an injury-hit part of their season. However, the Blues lost 36-year-old Thiago Silva in the first half of their win in North London. The Brazilian has been a star performer in a difficult period leading up to the sacking of Frank Lampard, and subsequently, he will be a big miss if he is to face a lengthy spell on the touchline.

Speaking after the match, Tuchel addressed the situation of the centre-back and said to Football.London: “It will be very tight for Sunday. It is only in two days but it is very hard to give a diagnosis because I saw him only very quickly in the dressing room with a big strap around his muscle.

“We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt and I don’t think he can play.”

Kai Havertz, Kurt Zouma and Hakim Ziyech

Both Kai Havertz and Kurt Zouma missed the trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after picking up knocks in training during the week. The pair are expected to be available to face Sheffield United on Sunday, but it cannot be confirmed.

Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech made the squad against Tottenham on Thursday after missing out against Burnley on the weekend. The Moroccan did not come on against Jose Mourinho’s side, but his inclusion into the squad shows he should soon be available.
