Newcastle United Look to Sign Joe Willock on Loan

Newcastle United are in talks to complete the deadline day signing of Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock. The Arsenal academy graduate is one of many midfielders the Magpies are looking at as Steve Bruce looks to strengthen his side for the second half of the season.

Newcastle Close to the Loan Signing of Joe Willock

Midfielder Looking for Consistent Game Time

Steve Bruce has left it late but is looking at bringing in midfield reinforcements today. Joe Willock joins Leicester City’s Hamza Choudhury and Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham on a list of possible incomings.

However, as per the reliable Mark Mann-Bryans, conversations are taking place and the loan move for Joe Willock are looking very likely.

Willock has started only two league games this season and, despite his impressive Europa League form, has struggled to push his way into Arteta’s plans. With the recent signing of another attacking midfielder in Martin Odegaard, his opportunities seem even bleaker. Given the fact that Arsenal are out of the FA Cup and now in the business end of the Europa League, he will struggle to get much game time.

As a result, the Arsenal man is keen to leave the Emirates in search of regular first-team football. Newcastle have expressed an interest in signing him and he is likely to be a key man for Steve Bruce if the deal can be completed.

Yet, Willock is just one of many whose Arsenal future remains uncertain going into the final hours of the window. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another one edging towards the exit door. He too being someone Steve Bruce was reportedly keen on bringing in on loan.

Mikel Arteta has some decisions to be made. Losing two midfield options in the final day of the window could leave them weak in terms of depth in that position. However, what is clear that if any of the two are to leave the Emirates this window, Willock would be the most likely.

Busy Deadline Day for Newcastle

Newcastle are looking at several incomings. These players coming in the door will help dictate what Steve Bruce can do in terms of outgoings too.

Full-back DeAndre Yedlin is close to completing a move to Galatasaray. Also, Matt Ritchie is keen on a return to Bournemouth. Midfielder Matty Longstaff is also linked to Watford. These outgoings outline the need for midfield reinforcements such as Willock. He is someone who is expected to make the move by the end of today.
