Crewe Alexandra Sign Defender Nathan Wood on Loan from Middlesbrough

Wood Has Featured Four Times for Middlesbrough This Season

The defender is highly thought off at Boro. He has featured four times in the Championship this season for Neil Warnock. Wood has caught the eye and a move to Crewe offers a chance of regular football. All four appearances have come in the New Year with Wood only making his full Championship debut in a recent game with Nottingham Forest.

He has been with Middlesbrough since the age of 13. Wood holds the record of being the youngster ever player to play for Middlesbrough. He made his senior debut at just 16 years and 75 days old in a Carabao cup tie.

Crewe Exceeding Expectations in League One

Wood is gearing up for a spell with high flying Crewe. David Artell’s team are very much in the promotion race, they sit just three points off the play-off places. They are having a brilliant season and Wood will hope he can make a positive impression.

He is joining the Railwaymen with Middlesbrough’s blessing and hope that he gets regular game time. He will look to gain some valuable first-team experience as well as enhance his football education.

Wood is joining one of the most vibrant teams in English football so certainly, it’s a move that suits all parties. The move also continues the good relations between the two sides.

Wood will link up with fellow Boro loanee Stephen Walker who is no stranger to Crewe having had a previous loan spell at Gresty Road.

He could make debut against Shrewsbury Town tomorrow evening.
