Blackburn Rovers have signed Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis on loan for the rest of the season.

Harwood-Bellis is Blackburn’s latest recruit as they look to gatecrash the Championship play-offs.

Tony Mowbray has been looking for defensive reinforcements throughout this transfer window and Harwood-Bellis is a timely arrival for the Blackburn manager.

Harwood-Bellis Has Made a Handful of Appearances Under Pep Guardiola

The young centre-back is highly thought of at Manchester City. He has made a few senior appearances for City in cup competitions. His most recent was City’s FA Cup fourth-round win against League Two side Cheltenham Town.

Guardiola wants the talented defender to get some game time and enhance his football education. The move continues the good relations between the two clubs after former City defender Tosin Adarabioyo spent last season on loan at Ewood Park.

Harwood-Bellis is a talented defender who loves both sides of the game. He gets forward and always does the hard defensive work. Guardiola is a big fan and he will be satisfied he is heading to the right football club.

The defender is joining a Blackburn side going well in the Championship. Rovers have got their season in gear and find themselves just three points off the play-offs. They are eighth in the Championship fresh off consecutive league wins.

Rovers Looking for Promotion

Harwood-Bellis is the third defensive arrival for Blackburn after they snapped up Everton youngster Jarrad Branthwaite and Crewe Alexandra’s Harry Pickering. He adds an extra option for Tony Mowbray with a busy second half of the season to come for Rovers.

The defender is in line to make his Blackburn debut against Queens Park Rangers next weekend – a key game for Rovers as they go in search of a third straight league win and continue to heap the pressure on sixth place Bournemouth.
