Birmingham City have signed Manchester City youngster Keyendrah Simmonds on a permanent deal. The teenager arrives for an undisclosed fee, signing a contract until 2023.

Simmonds joins as Aitor Karanka looks to boost his Birmingham City squad. His side are hovering dangerously close to the Championship relegation zone.

He is the Blues third signing in this transfer window following Rekeem Harper and Sam Cosgrove into St Andrews.

Simmonds Joins Tasked With Added Firepower to the Blues Attack

Predominately a striker, Simmonds has progressed through the Manchester City ranks. Featuring at several youth levels and even featuring for the England youth sides.

He has impressed at City scoring a lorry load of goals for the development squads and even played in Papa John’s Trophy this season.  A move to the Midlands offers him a great opportunity to play senior football and score some goals.

Simmonds is joining a Blues side struggling for goals. Only Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers and Derby County have scored fewer than Birmingham’s total of 19. Its something has needs to change if they are to ease away from trouble. The Blues have won just one of their last nine league games.

Their form is disappointing and the pressure is on Karanka who has been heavily backed. Simmonds is the third arrival this window after Rekeem Harper and Sam Cosgrove.

The talented striker joins ready to seize his chance and make his presence felt. He will certainly get some minutes under his belt and enhance his football education. At 19, he is still raw but there is plenty of talent and he will relish the opportunity to showcase his abilities.

It remains to be seen whether he has seen in time for Birmingham’s crucial clash with Wycombe Wanderers tomorrow night. He will be available for their trip to Bournemouth this weekend.
