The former Arsenal midfielder has been training with the Cherries since December in order to prove his fitness.

Quality Addition to Help Bournemouth Return to the Premier League

Wilshere has been without a club since leaving West Ham United last summer. However, despite the fitness issues that have been prevalent throughout his career, his quality will help the Cherries in their promotion battle.

Wilshere impressed during the early days of his career due to his ability and calmness on the ball, often gliding through defences. However, a lot of that has been overshadowed and disrupted by his lack of game time due to injuries.

After being released by Arsenal in 2018, the 29-year-old moved across London to join the Hammers. However, as a result of constant injuries, he was only able to make 18 appearances.

Should Wilshere find the form and ability that he was once able to display, he will prove to be a regular threat and good signing for Bournemouth.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the official Bournemouth website after confirmation of his move, Wilshere said that he was impressed by the club’s ambition to make a swift return to the Premier League.

“It feels great to be back and I can’t wait to get started,” the 29-year-old said.

“From the minute I walked through the door three weeks ago, it felt natural and like I had never been away.

“I know a lot of the players and staff here and I’m pleased they allowed me to train initially, and then it just went from, there.

“I’ve been impressed by the coaching staff, the way they work and the ambitions of the club to get back in the Premier League.

“We all share the same ambitions and I’m looking forward to playing my part in helping achieve those.”
