Ryan Edmondson Joins Northampton Town on Loan From Leeds United

Edmondson Arrives After a Spell in Scotland

19-year-old Edmondson is gearing up for his first taste of EFL football. The striker impressed while on loan at Aberdeen during the first half of the season. The Scottish Premiership side wanted to extend the deal, but Edmondson has decided to join the Cobblers.

Edmondson is highly thought off at Leeds after making his senior debut in the Championship at just 16 years of age. He has been a regular and consistent performer for Leeds’ U23 side. He notched 20 goals in 23 games which helped the Leeds U23 side when the Premier League Professional Development League title.

Speaking to the Northampton website about his new signing, manager Keith Curle said: “Ryan has a lot of excellent attributes and I am really pleased we are able to bring him to the club.

“He is a mobile, hard-working, aggressive centre forward. He has a hunger and a desire to score goals and he is capable of scoring different types of goals. Beyond that, he is someone who can link play well, he also has an excellent work ethic and is someone willing to go the extra mile for the team.

“He is a player we spotted a while ago and have tracked for some time, we tried to sign him in the last transfer window and I am delighted we have been able to secure his signature now.

“It is also pleasing that Leeds United have seen how we help to develop young players and are happy to allow Ryan to join us at this stage of his career.”

Mickel Miller Also Becomes a Cobbler

As well as confirming the arrival of Edmondson, Northampton have also signed Rotherham winger Mickel Miller. Miller has struggled since arriving from Scotland in the summer.

He is a versatile attacking player who can play either up front or on the wings. Miller joins the Cobblers after making just nine appearances for Rotherham this season. A chance at game time was too good to turn down and now he can showcase his qualities in League One.

Speaking about Miller, Keith Curle added: “Mickel is a player we have been tracking for some time and we are delighted to be able to bring him to the club.

“He has attributes that we think can improve us. Mickel is a tricky player with a lot of pace who can play either wide or centrally. He is a goal threat himself and he is also a player who can create opportunities for others.

“He also works really hard when his team does not have the ball and that is something we demand of every player who represents Northampton Town.

“I like his attitude and his desire. He was willing to take the chance of moving up from London to Scotland early in his career to take the opportunity of joining Hamilton and that sort of character is something that appeals to me. We think he is an excellent fit for us.”

Both players could make their debut against Oxford United this weekend.
