Walsall Sign Aston Villa Youngster Tyreik Wright on Loan

Aston Villa youngster Tyreik Wright has joined League Two side Walsall on loan for the rest of the season.

The arrival of Wright continues Walsall’s excellent relationship with their big Midlands neighbours. Darrell Clarke is looking to boost his Walsall attack this window and Wright’s arrival certainly does that.

Wright Gearing Up for First Taste of Football League Action

Predominately a winger, Wright joins as Walsall’s first January signing. The Saddlers are looking to maintain their promotion bid having enjoyed a decent first half of the season.

Clarke is looking for further pace, creativity and firepower in his ranks. Wright brings all those points to the table. He has been a regular for Villa’s U23s this season making 11 appearances, scoring two goals in the process.

Wright has faced Football League opposition this season in the Papa John’s trophy, featuring against Sunderland and Carlisle United. However, this will be his first time out on loan in the EFL. This is a great chance for him to gain valuable experience and impress the Villa staff.

He joins a Walsall side pushing for a spot in the League Two playoffs. The Saddlers are four points off the top seven and Wright could make his debut in their next game against Oldham Athletic.

Wright Delighted to Move Across The Midlands

Speaking to the Walsall website about his move, Wright said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be here.

“I just want to thank the gaffer and Walsall for giving me the opportunity to come here on loan. I have been waiting a long time for this opportunity and I just can’t wait to get started.

“It means a lot to me (to be allowed out on loan) to be fair. I want to go out there and showcase my ability and show everyone what I have got.

“Like I say, I have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. Playing men’s football will be a huge development in my career and hopefully, it is a step towards great things.

“I’ll take my experiences of playing in the EFL Trophy this season because I haven’t played men’s football before but those games are a massive help and they can really help with your career development and I have enjoyed playing in those games.”
