Derby County Youngster Isaac Hutchinson Joins Forest Green Rovers on Loan

Forest Green Rovers have confirmed that they have signed Derby County youngster Isaac Hutchinson on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old makes the move to the League Two side after making his debut for the Rams against Chorley in the FA Cup on Saturday.

‘I Want to Be a Part of it’

Hutchinson began his career with Southend United, joining Derby in October 2020. He became a regular for Southend last season during the 2019/20 season, making 24 appearances in all competitions in what was a turbulent season at Roots Hall.

After impressing with the Essex-based side, Hutchinson sealed a move to Pride Park to join their U23’s side. During his short spell, Hutchinson has become a senior figure and captained the side during their 2-0 defeat to Chorley in the third round of the FA Cup.

Speaking to the official Forest Green Rovers website after completing his move, Hutchinson said: “I’m really excited. As soon as I heard of the opportunity to join the club, I was buzzing to get the move done.

“I’ve heard about the great football that the team play – and the way the club is going. I want to be a part of it.

“I spoke to the Head Coach and loved everything that he had to say. In the Under-23s league, you don’t get to play week in, week out – so I am really excited to start playing regularly.”

A move to Forest Green will certainly offer the 20-year-old the chance for regular football. Mark Cooper’s side play five times between the now and the end of January, as well as five games currently next month.

As a result, the signing of Hutchinson will offer Cooper the depth and quality to alternate his squad in their bid to stake their claim for a play-off spot.
