Reece James had his car broken into and his charity donation stolen, which he posted about on his Instagram Story.

The 21-year-old Chelsea defender had been helping out at the Felix Project to give food to hungry children and their families. But when he returned to his car he found his window smashed and charity gifts missing.

He said:

“Another rewarding experience with the Felix project today serving meals to the younger generation. Hopefully we spread some joy ahead of a challenging Christmas period.”

“Unfortunately, I was met with huge disappointment when returning to my car. During the event, someone felt the need to break in and steal gifts that I was due to go and donate later in the day.”

In a photo that appeared only temporarily on his Instagram account, James’ car had its rear right window smashed out.

He added on his story:

“What goes around comes around.”

The Felix Project

James has been supporting the Felix Project for over a year. This is a charity that repurposes surplus food in London, delivering it to locals in need of food.

He has set up a page where he encourages donations to the Project. The total sum of donations so far has exceeded £19,400.

The defender decided to celebrate his birthday by aiming to raise £100,000 for hungry children and their families. His target goal could see up to 610,000 meals provided.

He said:

“I’ve set up this page to help raise money for The Felix Project. Let’s help provide additional meals for hungry children in London and others who need our help. No one should experience this. So please let’s come together and create something special for all the people suffering. Every £10 will provide 61 meals. We all need to come together to create positive change and #endchildfoodpoverty!!”

“No child deserves to go to bed hungry.”
