Jose Mourinho Clarifies His Transfer Position Amid Dele Alli Rumours

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has shut down any transfer speculation surrounding Dele Alli, stating that he is not responsible for the club’s transfer activity.

Alli has played just 67 minutes in the Premier League for Spurs this season with the bulk of his game time coming in the Europa League.

Jose Mourinho Not Responsible for Tottenham’s Transfer Amid Dele Alli Rumours

Jose Mourinho “Doesn’t Have A Problem” with Dele Alli

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Europa League clash against LASK Mourinho said: “I don’t make decisions about selling A, B or C or letting D, E or F go on loan. I am responsible for the players that belong to my squad and are working with me.

“The ones not playing enough time in their mind, in their ambitions – they have only one thing to do, which is to use the time they play to show me they are better than the ones having more minutes. There is no secret to that.”

Addressing his relationship with Dele Alli directly, he continued: “I don’t have any problem with Dele. I don’t have problems with anyone. I’m happy I don’t have personal issues with any of my players.

“But of course, players are happier when they play, they’re not happy when they don’t play. I don’t blame the players, it’s just the way it is.

“There’s only one way to improve their situation, which is to work hard every day and to use every minute they’re on the pitch to try and improve but fundamentally the concept that is above everything is that the team is more important than any one of us.”

Dele Alli: Spurs Favourite to Fallen Star

Arriving at White Hart Lane from Milton Keynes Dons in 2015, Alli quickly established himself as a regular starter for Spurs, scoring ten goals and providing nine assists in his first season.

The England international has 62 goals and 51 assists in all competitions for the club but hasn’t featured in any of their last six Premier League matchday squads.

The 24-year old is expected to start in Austria where he will be hoping to add to his one assist so far this season.
