Much Needed Help at Left-Back

If Telles ends up at United then he will provide a very good option at left-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjær. Luke Shaw currently does not have much competition when it comes to the starting role and Telles could very well push the current left-back for his position. Following the disappointing result against Crystal Palace, United clearly need to make more signings if they are to compete for the top four. Telles provides depth and experience at left-back which could prove to be very valuable this season.

An Attack Minded Player

Telles is very much involved in scoring at Porto. In his first appearance for the club this season, he converted two spot-kicks and registered an assist in a 3-1 victory over Braga. The Brazilian’s great start to the 2020/21 season displays he’s in very good form and ready to make an impact at whichever club he ends up at.

During the last season, he recorded 11 goals and eight assists in the domestic campaign. His combined goals and assists during the 2019/20 season were a career-high for the 27-year-old. Additionally, he led the entire Portuguese top flight with a total of 270 crosses. These statistics are much higher than the output the current left-backs for United have been able to produce.

While Telles is a very talented player in attack, he is also very good defensively. He was among the best in Portugal last season with 56 interceptions. United will certainly need him to be replicate his success defensively if he arrives in the Premier League.
