REPORT: Manchester United Eye-Up Three Alternatives to Jadon Sancho

Manchester United have made their pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho extremely public this summer. However, their hopes of securing a deal with the Englishman are seemingly diminishing by the day. Now, the Red Devils are starting to look for alternatives.

Also during this transfer window, United have been linked with Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale and Juventus’ Douglas Costa. According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, Manchester United may now turn their attention to Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic if the club do not manage to strike a deal for Sancho.

Manchester United May End Interest in Jadon Sancho and Consider Three Cost-Effective Alternatives

Borussia Dortmund Holding Firm Over Manchester United Speculation

Borussia Dortmund have not changed their minds on their assessment of Jadon Sancho. The German club value the 20-year-old at £108 million, with Manchester United struggling to negotiate a suitable deal. Like all clubs, United have been economically struck by Covid-19 and cannot justify meeting Dormtund’s asking price.

The Red Devils only have three more weeks until the window ends and are expected to move on from Sancho. The three players they have been linked with, provide a cost-effective alternative than the 20-year-old.

Manchester United’s Stance on Gareth Bale and Douglas Costa

Over the past few seasons, Manchester United have always shown an interest in Gareth Bale. However, rumours have intensified this summer and, with Real Madrid trying to off-load, United may eventually land Bale. The Spanish giants have also offered to pay half of the Welshman’s wages if he was to exit this window.

Douglas Costa is another name that has been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The Juventus winger has been transfer-listed by the Turin club after concerns about his injury record. It would certainly be a big risk for United to take, but one which could help the club compete with the best.

Ivan Perisic Emerges as the Latest Target

The Croatian wide-man is a player than Jose Mourinho tried to land ahead of United’s 2017/18 season. However, the club viewed Perisic as ‘not marketable enough’. In that time, Perisic helped his nation to the World Cup final and also played an integral role in Bayern Munich’s Champions League-winning campaign.

Despite an impressive season with the German giants, the club are unlikely to bring him back. His parent club, Inter Milan, are expected to loan him out again, with Manchester United very much interested.
