Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose has been linked with a move to Serie A side Genoa.

According to Nick Mashiter, a journalist for the Press Association, it is not clear whether it will be a permanent or loan move.

The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Newcastle United after a falling out with Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho.

Out of Favour

Rose did not feature in any of Tottenham’s pre-season fixtures ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

The 30-year-old has gradually fallen out of favour in North London. He is now the fourth choice left-back, sitting behind Ben Davies, Ryan Sessesgnon and youngster Dennis Cirkin.

As a result, he is now seeking a move away. Rose has been training with Spurs’ U23’s in order to maintain his fitness.

Rose’s falling out with the club recently became public in the new ‘All or Nothing’ documentary on Amazon Prime, which documents the club’s 2019/20 campaign. A heated confrontation between him and Mourinho saw him demand playing time in the first-team, otherwise he would seek a move away from the club.

Following that confrontation, the 30-year-old made only a handful of appearances for the North London side. He was subsequently shipped out on loan, making 13 appearances during the second half of last season.

As a result of his future with Tottenham, Rose will now spend the last year of his contract away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

An Exciting New Chapter in His Career

A move to Italy will offer Rose an exciting new start in his career.

He will follow in the footsteps of the likes of Chris Smalling and Joe Hart, two Englishmen who have made loan moves to Italy in recent years.

Genoa narrowly avoided relegation from Serie A last season; they finished four points above the relegation zone in 17th place.
