Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Looking to Bring Dani Ceballos Back to North London

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bring Dani Ceballos back to the Emirates next season, as reported by Simon Collings.

The 24-year-old spent last season on loan from Real Madrid, but the Gunners boss is uncertain what his parent club intend on doing with the Spain international next season

What Was Said

As reported by Collings, a sports reporter for the Evening Standard, Arteta said: “He was pretty clear with me as well that his intention was to remain with us but obviously Real Madrid is involved and I don’t know yet what they want to do with the player.”

His parent club have called the midfielder back for pre-season, despite the intentions of sending back out on loan for the upcoming campaign.

That hasn’t stopped Arteta from wanting to bring him back to the Emirates. He added: “He’s a player that we are interested in because we really saw, in the last few months of the season, what he is capable of bringing to us.”

Ceballos at Arsenal

Dani Ceballos joined on a season-long loan from Real Madrid last summer. The 24-year-old made 37 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, scoring twice.

His first goal came in the Europa League group stages during a 4-0 win over Standard Liege, with his second goal coming as a late winner as the Gunners saw off Sheffield United in the FA Cup quarter-final.

Despite missing nearly two months with a torn muscle, it was an impressive season for the Spain international, who ended it with an FA Cup victory.

It is also an area of the pitch that Arteta is looking to improve. The squad are short on numbers in the centre of the park and Ceballos would be a welcome addition to the team.
