Valentino Lazaro is awaiting a medical ahead of a loan move from Inter Milan to Borussia Monchengladbach, according to Fabrizio Romano. The 24-year-old will look to establish himself in the Bundesliga after struggling to cement a permanent position at the San Siro.
Valentino Lazaro Awaiting Medical Ahead of Borussia Monchengladbach Move
Valentino Lazaro is no stranger to the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old winger spent two years of his career in Germany’s top flight when he turned out for Hertha Berlin, prior to a move to Inter.
The midfielder scored five times from 65 outings for Die Alte Dame in the German capital before making the switch to the Serie A side in 2019.
Career So Far
Lazaro made his name at Red Bull Salzburg. Having come through the ranks at Grazer AK, he joined Die Mozartstädter in 2011. In six seasons, Lazaro scored 15 times from 121 appearances, and become the youngest ever player to play in the Austrian Bundesliga, aged 16 years and 224 days.
During his time in his homeland, Lazaro won five Austrian Football Bundesliga titles and five Austrian cups.
It was during his time at Salzburg that the winger made his international debut. He has since gone on to make 28 caps for Austria, scoring on three occasions.
However, since his move to Milan, his game time has been limited. The winger managed just six Serie A appearances, making 11 in all competitions, before being sent out on loan to Newcastle United.
During his time at St. James’ Park, Lazaro scored twice from 15 appearances. His first came in the FA Cup win over West Bromwich Albion, before netting his only Premier League goal in a 4-1 win over Bournemouth.
Lazaro will be hoping that the move can help establish regular football for the Austrian international. Although the deal is initially a loan move, Monchengladbach will have the option to buy at the end of the season.
