Exciting Prospect

The 19-year-old was highly-rated by his former employees West Ham.

He made five starts for the Hammers last season; however, he spent much of the season as understudy to Pablo Zabaleta.

However, he departed the London Stadium after failing to agree a new contract with West Ham.

While the contract length is undisclosed, he is set to link up with his new team-mates when they begin pre-season training on Monday.

What Was Said?

Speaking about his move to Vicarage Road, the 19-year-old said: “I am absolutely over the moon to be here. When I heard Watford wanted me, it really stood out to me because a great club like Watford wants me and it’s a great team.

When asked about what persuaded him to make the move to Hertfordshire, he said: “The way the club are run really, because, as you can see, there’s a lot of young talent starting to come to Watford. The likes of Domingos [Quina] and Tom Dele [Bashiru], they’re starting to come to Watford because there is clearly a pathway to the first-team here, and that’s what I think I need at this moment in my career.”

A New Era for the Club

A return to the Championship signals a new era for the Hornets.

Their return to the second division came after a five-year spell in the top-flight was ended after a final day defeat to Arsenal.

The new season and new division also means a new man in the dugout at Vicarage Road. Nigel Pearson was sacked just two games before the end of the season, and the Hornets have been looking for a new manager ever since.

However, it now appears that there is a new man in charge, as Vladimir Ivic looks set to be appointed.
