REPORT: Inter Milan Hoping to Agree Deal With Manchester United for Alexis Sanchez

According to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, Inter Milan are hoping that they can sign Alexis Sanchez permanently following his loan spell.

The Chilean winger joined the Serie A club last summer on a season-long loan from Manchester United.

Wage Cut

According to the report, the 31-year-old will have to take a wage cut if he wants to make his stay in Italy permanent.

Sanchez currently earns in the region of £400,000-per-week in Manchester, wages that the Red Devils will believe that they have not seen a return on.

The Chilean spent just 18 months at Old Trafford before being sent out on loan. He scored just five goals during that time, failing to replicate the form that he showed during his time with former club Arsenal.

As a result, United are willing to sell Sanchez; any deal, however, will require a compromise from the winger.

Successful Return to Italy

The 31-year-old has enjoyed a successful return to Italy since joining Inter Milan last summer.

Sanchez has been virtually ever-present in Antonio Conte’s line-up this season. He has made 28 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring four times.

Three of those four goals have come in Milan’s last eight games, including the winner in a 3-0 win over Genoa.

As a result, Conte is keen to keep the Chilean winger, as he looks to build a side who can continue to push Juventus for the Serie A title.

Inter fell just short of challenging this season. With one game left to play, Juventus have already wrapped up the title, sitting four points ahead of their Milan rivals.

However, it can still be deemed a hugely successful season for Conte’s side. They are leading the race to finish second in Serie A, and are also one of the favourites to win the Europa League.
