Manchester United are showing interest in Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman, according to Andy Mitten of The Athletic.

However, there are conflicting reports, with Christian Falk suggesting otherwise.

Targeting a Winger

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to add a winger to his squad this summer. Jadon Sancho has been the main target, however, United are considering broadening their targets. Borussia Dortmund continue to hold their stance on the valuation of the Englishman.

Coman is one of the players who is on their shortlist. The 24-year-old has had a hugely successful career, winning a league title in France, Germany and Italy.

According to The Athletic, the Red Devils could potentially agree a loan deal for the Frenchman. However, a permanent transfer also remains an option.

The winger has played a major part in Bayern Munich’s recent success. Since joining the German champions in 2015, he has made 158 appearances, scoring 32 goals.

Why Would He Leave Bayern Munich?

The Frenchman has won a title in every season that he has been at the Allianz Arena. As a result, it seems difficult to comprehend why he would leave the German champions.

However, following the arrival of former Manchester City winger Leroy Sane in the Bavarian capital, his place is now under threat in the first-team.

Therefore, a move to United, where he would be a regular starter, would make sense.

Coman would add a great deal of threat to the Manchester United starting line-up. He is an out and out winger, compared to Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood. Despite his more direct nature, he still registered seven goals last season, as Munich romped to the Bundesliga title.

His quality would no doubt raise the bar at Old Trafford, and add to the attacking threat that the Red Devils already have.
