Salford City have completed the signing of midfielder Jason Lowe following his release from Bolton Wanderers. The 28-year-old joins the Ammies on a three-year-deal and becomes Salford’s third signing of the summer following the arrivals of Ashley Hunter and Tom Clarke.

Lowe’s Career

Wigan-born Lowe started his career at Blackburn Rovers having come through the academy at Ewood Park. He spent seven years with the club, totalling 196 appearances and scoring once.

He spent part of the 2010/11 season on loan at Oldham Athletic where he scored twice in seven games, but following the end of his time with Blackburn, he linked up with Birmingham City at the start of the 2017/18 campaign.

However, he made just nine appearances in his one season with the Blues before joining Bolton.

He played 35 times in that season with the Trotters but could not help save them from relegation, and it was the same story again in 2019/20 as the club finished bottom of League One.

What Was Said?

Speaking to the club website about the move, manager Graham Alexander said: “He’s another player we’ve brought in that fits the profile we’ve been looking for, a sort of captain, leader type to really strengthen the spine of the team; with the other signings we’ve made we’re delighted.

“His playing record is at higher levels than we’re currently at, and we’ve been speaking to him for quite a while now. We know we’ve got the player we originally wanted quite a while ago so we can’t wait to get started with him, and we know that he’s going to be another brilliant addition to the club.”
