Draw For Europe – Manchester City Face Tough Route While English Clubs Could Meet in Europa League Semi-Final

The draw for the remaining Champions League and Europa League fixtures have been made. Just two English clubs remain in the Champions League, with Manchester City and Chelsea both looking to progress. Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all still in the Europa League, as are Rangers.

Draw For Europe – Manchester City Face Tough Route While English Clubs Could Meet in Europa League Semi-Final

Manchester City Could Face Juventus

Manchester City, who hold a 2-1 advantage over Real Madrid following their first-leg win, will play the winner of Lyon or Juventus if they progress.

The Citizens came from a goal down in Madrid to bring the home tie in their favour. However, all matches will now be played in neutral venues. That said, they will still be the favourites to progress. Meanwhile, Lyon hold a 1-0 lead over the Old Lady ahead of their second leg.

If City manage to see off Real Madrid and the winner of the Juventus and Lyon match, they will then face the winner of the Chelsea and Bayern Munich, and Napoli and Barcelona quarter-finals.

Chelsea With it All to do

Chelsea’s chances of progressing to the quarter-finals are less likely with Frank Lampard’s side needing to overturn a 3-0 deficit against Bayern Munich.

The Bundesliga champions won comfortably at Stamford Bridge, but will now be without their home advantage in the second leg. Despite that, the Blues look unlikely to see of their German opposition.

The winner of their tie will face the winner of the Napoli and Barcelona. The first leg ended 1-1 in Italy.

Manchester United Should Face Copenhagen or Istanbul Basaksehir

The Red Devils are all but through after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side won 5-0 in the first leg against LASK Linz. Copenhagen are one goal down from their first leg.

Wolves are all square after their first leg with Olympiacos. The winner will face either Sevilla or Roma. Both English clubs could meet in the semi-finals.
