REPORT: Chelsea Prepared to Loan Out Kepa Arrizabalaga

Chelsea Kepa

Chelsea‘s chances of signing a new goalkeeper may rest on whether they are willing to pay a percentage of Kepa Arrizabalaga‘s wages to loan him out, according to Matt Law.

Football.London are also reporting that the Blues have identified two possible replacements for the Spaniard.

Lampard to Seriously Consider Goalkeeping Options

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is to seriously consider his goalkeeping options at the end of the season.

The Club’s current goalkeeper options are Kepa Arrizabalaga, Willy Caballero and Jamie Cumming.

With the other two unlikely to take a long-term spot in the first eleven over Kepa, who has disappointed under Frank Lampard to-date, Chelsea are looking at replacing him.

It looks as though Kepa could be loaned out for at least a season.

A Loan is Most Realistic

A loan away from Chelsea for Kepa is the most realistic scenario right now.

Chelsea have no chance of recouping anything close to the £71.6 million they spent to sign him from Athletic Bilbao.

Clubs in La Liga are interested in taking the goalkeeper back to Spain, though it is unlikely that any of those will be able to pay his £150,000-a-week wages.

Chelsea may need to agree to pay a percentage of his weekly wage, should a deal happen.

Kepa’s departure would allow Frank Lampard to sign a new goalkeeper in the transfer window.

Cech to Find Replacement

There doesn’t seem to be an obvious candidate to replace Kepa in the Chelsea goal.

However, technical and performance advisr Petr Cech is described as the perfect man to find the right candidate for his own previous spot in the team.

Cech is said to have worked closely with former teammate Frank Lampard and director Marina Granovskaia for the signings of Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

As a result, it would make perfect sense for him to be involved in the recruitment of a new no.1.

Keen to Make Additions Elsewhere

Chelsea are also keen to make further additions in other positions. Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell remains Chelsea’s top target at left-back. Whilst, the Blues are also set to step up their pursuit of Kai Havertz.
