Club Returning to Training

The French football season was brought to an abrupt and early end during lockdown. The decision was taken before the ones of the Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A and Premier League to return to playing behind closed doors, meaning they were the only of Europe’s five major leagues to not go back.

However, PSG do still have a Champions League campaign to fulfil, and that’s what the return to training is for. This return could only happen, though, after each player took antigen and antibody screenings.

The results of those tests found that three members of the squad had Coronavirus at some point during the quarantine in France. The club said: “These individuals had exhibited symptoms during the confinement period when they were not in contact with each other.

“They are no longer contagious and will resume their training program.”

Games Still to Play for Paris Saint-Germain

The Ligue 1 season was curtailed when sporting events in France were outlawed until at least September. However, with the rest of the Champions League competition taking place in one location, and it being outside France, it’s likely PSG will be able to compete.

UEFA have announced that the competition will be completed in swift fashion at a tournament in Lisbon, with original hosts of the final Istanbul now hosting next season’s conclusion.

Thomas Tuchel’s side made the quarter-finals after coming from behind to beat Borussia Dortmund on aggregate in the last 16. Their quarter-final tie did not get underway before football was suspended.
