Manchester United have opened discussions with the entourage of Bayern Munich midfielder Corentin Tolisso, according to Mohamed Bouhafsi.

Corentin Tolisso Entourage Contacted by Manchester United

Bayern Munich may not have parted with an arm and a leg to sign Tolisso from Lyon in 2017, though the €41.5 million transfer fee was a then-Bundesliga record. In the words of Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Tolisso was set to be the “young and interesting” midfielder Carlo Ancelotti had wished for in Bavaria.

However, Tolisso has failed to justify a record transfer fee. Injuries have been a constant hindrance over the last two years. When available, Tolisso has found it hard to break into Hansi Flick’s Bayern Munich XI. Both club and player are happy to part ways this summer.

Manchester United have moved to take advantage, making contact with Tolisso’s entourage. Bayern Munich are prepared to take a loss on Tolisso, with an asking price of €35 million.

Inter Milan are so interested in adding Tolisso. However, the midfielder has always had ‘a weakness’ for the Premier League. Both clubs are expected to contact the Bundesliga champions in the coming days.

The 25-year-old has the ability. Former Manchester United full-back Rafael da Silva has vouched for his former Lyon teammate.

Tolisso has been involved in 26 goals in his 68 appearances for Bayern, scoring 14 and providing 12. He has also played a hand in eight goals this season, with five of those coming in the Champions League.

He has shown he is capable of delivering at times, but the ruthless club he plays for means he still needs more and the injuries do not help him gain momentum and maintain performances.

United Interest

Manchester United have been linked with numerous midfielders. We’ve seen Donny van de Beek strongly linked in recent days, with Jack Grealish and James Maddison have been suggested too.

It is possible United are approaching the summer window with a shrewd strategy of preparing deals for several targets. A move to provide them with other options to seal transfers quickly, it would make sense. Especially, in such uncertain times, where it is expected to prove difficult to acquire a club’s finest talents. Even if that was to be true, it would be tricky to suggest who is Manchester United’s priority. All of the named reported targets could be impressive additions to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.
