La Liga Predictions

Seville Comes Together to Kick-Off League Resumption

La Liga’s re-opening game is the Seville derby as Sevilla welcome city rivals Real Betis. Sevilla are looking to maintain their Champions League spot while Real Betis are looking to make a late charge towards the Europa League places.

Julen Lopetegui’s Sevilla team sit third in La Liga, just two points clear of fifth-place Atletico Madrid. Prior to the league suspension, Sevilla were unbeaten in four league games and will fancy their chances of heaping more misery on their city rivals.

Rubi’s first season of Real Betis has been inconsistent, but a derby day win could be tonic to push them forward in the final eleven games. Betis had into this match in twelfth place having won just one of their last six league games prior to the suspension.

Valencia Also Comes Together as Levante Travel to the Mestalla

As well as the crucial Seville derby, Valencia’s two sides clash as Levante head to their big neighbours Valencia.

Valencia sit seventh in the La Liga table four points adrift of the Champions League places. Albert Celades’ side were unbeaten in two games prior to the suspension but know a derby win is in imperative to keep their top-four ambitions alive. They will also be looking to complete the league double over their city neighbours having won 4-2 when they last met.

Levante will want the bragging rights as they head to the Mestalla. Paco Lopez’s team still have an outside chance of securing Europa League football. However, they will also be aware they are not clear of relegation danger yet.

It was a pulsating encounter the last time they met and certainly, the Valencia derby will provide some quality entertainment.
