REPORT: Adam Lallana Set For Mini Contract Extension At Liverpool

Adam Lallana is set to sign a contract extension at Liverpool until the end of the season, according to The Time’s journalist Paul Joyce. Klopp sees the midfielder as a positive influence on the squad.

Lallana’s time with the Reds will finish at the end of the current campaign, and Klopp wants the midfielder to end his Liverpool career on a high.

Lallana Ending His Time With Liverpool On A High

According to a report in The Independent, Klopp and other high-level Anfield officials want to see Lallana end his time with Liverpool as a Premier League champion. The Reds only need six points to win the league.

Lallana is open to this move by senior leadership and has even suggested accepting reduced terms.

However, the midfielder will leave at the end of the season. Leicester City are reportedly interested in Lallana’s services. Also, several Premier League teams have also shown interest in him.

Klopp sees Lallana as a leader in the dressing room. He believes the midfielder sets an excellent example for others – especially the youth players.

“A player with the ability and skills of Adam Lallana is a pure joy to watch when the fitness level is increasing, and he is back on the pitch,” said the German to the official club website in 2019.

“It is clicking for him again. His attitude was always incredible, so why should I doubt him?”

Limited Game Time

Despite the goodwill shown by the Liverpool management, Lallana is not expected to feature frequently. Klopp will instead prioritize youth and new signings such as Takumi Minamino.

This is not surprising. Lallana has only featured 15 times this season, with most appearances coming off the bench. However, he has made the most of his limited opportunities.

Klopp called him “unbelievable” after the Reds beat Everton in the FA Cup. In addition, he scored one of the iconic Liverpool goals this season.

Lallana struck a last-minute equaliser against Manchester United to keep the Reds unbeaten run going. It also denied their rivals a famous win making it even sweeter.

The midfielder has failed to reach the heights that his Anfield career promised since his move from Southampton. However, he has been a solid Liverpool player who deserves a Premier League medal.
