Premier League strugglers Bournemouth have confirmed that on-loan Liverpool winger Harry Wilson will stay with the club until the season is finished.

Loan Extension

Wilson’s loan from the current Premier League leaders was due to expire imminently. However, due to the lengthening of the season owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, the two clubs have reached an agreement that will see Wilson stay on the South Coast until the remaining fixtures have been played.

It’s good news for Bournemouth, who will need a player of Wilson’s calibre if they are to get away from their current position. The Cherries are inside the relegation zone on goal difference, with Watford and West Ham United just edging in front of them.

Wilson, who is playing his first season in the top flight after an excellent spell with Derby County in the Championship last season, has made 27 appearances across all competitions this term for Eddie Howe’s side.

Bournemouth are set to restart their season on Saturday, June 20 when they face Crystal Palace in what will be the first-ever Premier League match to be shown live on the BBC.

Can Harry Wilson Help Bournemouth Escape the Drop?

Wilson, 23, has impressed in what has been a largely disappointing campaign for Bournemouth. He scored his first Premier League goal in a 2-1 win against Aston Villa before firing in a stunning free-kick at home to Manchester City.

The Welshman has proved to be an effective signing for Bournemouth and having him around for the run-in will likely prove to be a good bit of business.

With Liverpool’s title aspirations all but wrapped up, it gives them a good chance to bed in other youngsters such as Harvey Elliott, who would be rivalling Wilson for the back-up spot on the right of Liverpool’s front-three if both were at the club.
