REPORT: Roma Make Contact With Chelsea Winger Pedro

Pedro Chelsea

Serie A club AS Roma have begun talks with Chelsea winger Pedro, according to journalist Matt Law.

Pedro Holds Talks With Roma

Out of Contract

The Spaniard is out of contract at the end of June, and it does not look like he will be extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Pedro has seen his playing time decrease since the arrival of Frank Lampard last season. He has featured just nine times in the Premier League, as his new manager has turned his focus to developing his young talents.

Since arriving at Stamford Bridge, the 32-year-old has had a successful spell. His 13 goals and 11 assists helped Chelsea lift the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season.

Furthermore, he registered 13 goals last season as the Blues won the UEFA Europa League.

Several other clubs are said to be interested in the Spanish international, but Roma are the favourites for his signature.

Chelsea Will Not Miss Pedro

With Hakim Ziyech’s transfer already confirmed, and Timo Werner’s deal close to being agreed, Chelsea will not miss Pedro.

He will depart Stamford Bridge with a great amount of respect. However, as Frank Lampard continues to Chelsea by signing players with a huge amount of potential, it is the right time for him to depart.

Both Ziyech and Werner will bring great versatility to Lampard’s side. The former can play on the right-hand side, as well as behind the striker, while Werner can operate as a striker and a wide forward.

27-year-old Ziyech is now in the prime of his career, and Chelsea will be hoping that he can continue building on his performances at current club Ajax. The Moroccan has 25 goal contributions this season, a regular figure across his four years at the club.

However, it is Werner who has excited Chelsea fans the most. At just 24-years-old, the German’s game is still improving. His 31 goals so far this season is the best figures of his career so far. As a result, Lampard will have high expectations.
