Welcome back to Last Word On Football’s Bundesliga previews and predictions. We have reached the 29th round of games in the Bundesliga. Following a busy round of mid-week games, the Bundesliga continues this weekend with more crucial games at both ends of the table.
Leaders Bayern Munich fresh off their latest Der Klassiker victory, welcome Fortuna Dusseldorf to the Allianz Arena. Borussia Dortmund head to basement club Paderborn. Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen head to Freiburg, RB Leipzig travel to Koln and Wolfsburg host inconsistent Eintracht Frankfurt.
Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt Clash
European hopefuls Wolfsburg who will be looking to keep their very faint hopes of Champions League football alive this weekend as they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt.
Oliver Glasner’s team are fresh off an excellent away win at Bayer Leverkusen. The Wolves head into this hoping to heap more pressure on the sides above while consolidating their Europa League place.
In contrast, Eintracht Frankfurt are in desperate need of three points with Adi Hutter’s team just two points clear of the relegation play-off place. They showed plenty of fight in their midweek comeback against Freiburg. Frankfurt need the win to ease their relegation concerns. Andre Silva is back amongst the goals and Hutter will look to him to make the difference this weekend. The Portuguese international has scored two in his last three appearances.
Borussia Dortmund Head to Rock Bottom Paderborn
Borussia Dortmund head to Paderborn in need of a response following their loss in the Klassiker. Lucien Favre’s young team ultimately came up short with experience of Bayern Munich proving too much.
However, the season is not over yet as Dortmund must win to maintain their faint title hopes and place in the top four. Dortmund are just four points clear of 5th placed Bayer Leverkusen with six games to go. Favre will hope to have Erling Haaland available after the striker went off injured in the Bayern Munich game. Jadon Sancho and Axel Witsel will hope to start after being left on the bench.
Dortmund head to basement side Paderborn who are in desperate need of a win to ignite their survival charge. Steffen Baumgart’s side are proving difficult to beat but wins are eluding his team. They have drawn their last three league games and are losing ground on the sides above them. A win against Dortmund could be the ticket to igniting their quest for survival.
