Premier League Clubs to Resume Training Tomorrow

Premier League

Premier League clubs have voted in favour of resuming training from Tuesday. Players will be allowed to train in groups of five. The training shall not be held until the medical protocols surrounding the same have been followed.

The return date of normal footballing activity still seems unclear in England. Earlier, reports had suggested that football and sporting activity could resume on the 12th of June, but looking at the worsening conditions in the country, the date might have to be pushed back.

BBC Sport have reported that this first stage of restarting training was agreed in consultation with the players, managers, club doctors, independent experts and the government.

Everything About Today’s ‘Project Restart’ Meeting

It was a unanimous vote by the Premier League clubs in the meeting. The 20 clubs agreed that it is high time that there is some sort of progress about the situation.

Players will have no access to the changing rooms at their training ground. They will have to get changed at home and drive to training grounds on their own. The English top-flight is all set to replicate the German Bundesliga in the course of returning to normal footballing activity.

Players’ Concerns

Some of the Premier League players like Newcastle United defender Danny Rose and Watford skipper Troy Deeney have expressed concerns about another out-break of COVID-19 if football resumes in England.

Another concern of the smaller clubs is the enormous costs for adhering to the strict medical protocols.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has raised concerns over players’ fitness levels. The Englishman reportedly said that it will take almost six weeks for players to return to their top levels. He added that he doesn’t visualize football in England returning before ‘the end of June’.
