REPORT: Liverpool and Leicester City Keen on Greek Starlet Konstantinos Tsimikas

Premier League giants Liverpool & Leicester City are set to battle it out for the signature of  Olympiacos full-back Konstantinos Tsimikas, according to 90min.com.

It is understood that the reigning Greek Super League Champions will not be willing to part ways with the rising star unless their €25 million asking price for the player is matched by either of these clubs.

Competition for His Signature

The Foxes are showing a stronger interest due to the possibility of Ben Chilwell’s departure to Chelsea in the coming months.

Both Premier League outfits will also have to fight off competition from Serie A. Both AC Milan & Napoli are also interested in the 23-year-old.

Fantastic Cover to Andrew Robertson

Many Liverpool fans will also be looking forward to securing back-up to their world-class starter, Andrew Robertson

It could be said that James Milner does not provide such security within the back-line if called upon, so the purchase of Tsimikas would allow for Milner to take up a more comfortable advanced role.

New Kid on the Block

At the club since 2015 following youth spells at Napoli, Thessaloniki & Panserraikos, Tsimakas understandably found it hard to make an immediate impression for Greece’s top-dogs.

To advance his game, the now 23-year-old Tsimikas enjoyed a brief nine-game loan-spell in Denmark for Esbjerg. His style of play could only be described as Andy Robertson-like, allowed him to advance greatly up the pitch, notching two goals in his short tenure at the club.

The following season saw another European expedition for the youngster. He joined Dutch side Willem II on loan. Garnering his first professional season under his belt, he continued chipping in with goals and assists from his advanced full-back role.

Displaying tantalising dribbling ability, expert crosses and even having a knack for goalscoring, Olympiacos had liked what they saw, which was enough to earn Tsimikas a place in their first-team squad.

Tsimikas was one of the Greek sides stand-out performers this season before Coronavirus put a halt to leagues throughout Europe.

His advanced attacking runs provide another outlet of attack, whilst at the same time, his defensive stability is enough to get any Liverpool fan excited.

The future looks bright for this up-and-coming star. A valuable addition to any side.
