Pogba not Living up to the Price at United

Paul Pogba has not had the desired effect at Manchester United.

The Frenchman, who came through the ranks in Manchester, moved to Juventus in 2012 at the end of his contract. While in Italy, he emerged as one of the world’s best midfielders.

He consistently scored and assisted many goals, while providing great creativity and class in Juve’s midfield. He attracted interest from around Europe, but former club United ended up snatching him, paying a hefty, then world record, £89 million for him.

Despite his tremendous performances for the Italian giants and high price tag, Pogba failed to impress upon moving to United. He was one of Jose Mourinho’s first signings there, but couldn’t justify the Red Devils’ having paid so much for his services.

The Frenchman has struggled with injuries since his Manchester move too, namely thigh, hamstring and ankle. The latter of these has hindered his progress as well.

Pogba had finally put together some good form since the arrival of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer last campaign, scoring thirteen goals and assisting nine. He would have looked to continue this into this season, but a recurring ankle injury has restricted him to just eight appearances in all competitions.

Juventus ‘Desperate’ for Pogba

Juventus are ‘desperate’ for Pogba, according to the report. They are now willing to sell Miralem Pjanic, Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi to fund a move for the 27-year-old, but this will be much more difficult than usual with the Coronavirus having ripped the world of football apart, including their financial situations.
