Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min is looking to complete his military service for South Korea while the Premier League is suspended due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Football.London’s Rob Guest says that Son has returned to South Korea for ‘personal reasons’.

The 27-year-old was exempted from the 21-month service after he and his South Korea teammates won the gold medal at the 2018 Asian Games.
However, he is still required to complete a four-week basic training service as a minimum, and that could happen while he has returned to the country.
The English top-flight has been suspended since the beginning of March and it has been agreed between the Premier League’s chiefs and their counterparts at the EFL that the season will only resume when it is “safe and appropriate to do so”.
Son has been given permission to return to his country as he recovers from a fractured arm that he suffered in a 3-2 win against Aston Villa in February.
Is This What Son Heung-min Needs?
With Son exempted from the full two-year service, he is only required to complete a four-week basic training programme now.
Should this be stuck to, it would mean that the whole idea of Son needing to do the service would go away and he can focus fully on football.
While players are also doing as much as they can to stay fit during the current lockdown in the UK due to Coronavirus, this would certainly be a step up for Son and could also help in the rehabilitation from his arm injury suffered a couple of months ago.
It would leave Son in good physical condition once the season does resume, whenever that proves to be.
